ACTS Performing Arts Center will hold auditions for rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar on Sunday, November 16 from 6 to 8 pm and on Tuesday, November 18 from 7 to 9 pm at 40 S. Irvine Avenue, Sharon, PA 16146. Interested performers will be asked to perform 32 bars of a Broadway song with a pop, rock or gospel influence along with participating in a brief dance audition (bring appropriate footwear). Production will be under the direction of Nicole Walzer, music director Joseph Spurio and choreographer Jessica Wellington.

Jesus Christ Superstar is Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s revolutionary rock opera that reimagines the final days of Jesus Christ — told through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Blending soaring rock anthems with biblical themes, this powerful musical explores humanity, betrayal, and faith through a contemporary lens. Set against a politically charged backdrop, it dives deep into the relationships, doubts, and emotions that drive its characters toward an unforgettable climax. JESUS
Rock Tenor
Leader of the twelve Apostles the “Son of God”. A conflicted yet compassionate figure facing his fate. Requires strength, vulnerability, and emotional range.

JUDAS
Rock Tenor
One of the twelve apostles of Jesus who is concerned for the poor and the consequences of Jesus’ fame.

MARY MAGDALENE
Mezzo-Soprano
Devoted follower of Jesus, caught between faith and love. Warm and empathetic with emotional depth.

PILATE
Rock Baritone
Governor of Judea who foresees the events of Jesus’ crucifixion from beginning to aftermath in a dream and finds himself being presented with that very situation.

KING HEROD
High Baritone
The King of Galilee. Jesus is brought to him for judgement after first being taken to Pilate.

PETER
Baritone
One of Jesus’ twelve apostles, denies Jesus three times upon the night of Jesus’ arrest to save himself.

SIMON
Tenor
One of Jesus’ twelve apostles; urges Jesus to lead the followers into the battle against the Romans.

CAIAPHAS
Bass
High priest who sees Jesus as a threat to the nation.

ANNAS
Rock Baritone
Fellow priest at the side of Caiaphas who is persuaded by Caiaphas into seeing Jesus as a threat.

APOSTLES
The followers of Jesus. All vocal ranges.

ENSEMBLE
Large singing ensemble. Must be strong movers with good rock/ pop sounds. Dancing experience is a plus. Soul Girls, Priests, Lepers, Cured Lepers, Soldiers, Tormentors of Judas, Merchants, Reporters, Temple Ladies

Please Note: Performance dates are March 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and 29. Rehearsals begin on Sunday, January 4 th .
